Mali Kinderhilfe in Liechtenstein e.V. has developed a sport for good programme that will strengthen the rural region of Manankoroni in Mali. It will improve the village life, the youth will grow more together with increased team spirit and with a better balance in everyday life.
Problem to be tackled
The programme gives perspectives and opportunities to street children and children from socially disadvantaged families in rural Mali.
Mali Kinderhilfe in Liechtenstein e.V. is going to create the “Manankoroni Sports Centre” housing football, basketball and athletics with focus running in a phase one. Part of the programme are also a doctor from the existing emergency station and the head of the entire emergency station – mainly for additional life-skill sessions.
The initiative includes sport days, village festivals, “International Day of Sport for Development and Peace”, tournaments, FUNfitness, prevention topics as well as sexual education.
The children who live in the Manankoroni district can be seen as the main beneficiaries; the project focuses on the age group six to 16 years olds, girls and boys, children from socially disadvantaged families as well as street children.
With the support from The SOL Foundation, Mali Kinderhilfe in Liechtenstein e.V. will be able to add and implement a dedicated sport programme to their overall initiative.
