kick mit Austria (2020)

Austria
2020-2023

In brief

kick mit Austria is an empowering football project for girls and young women. Paired with education the main approach is integration, recognition, participation, sustainable development and empowerment.

The programme creates an accessible platform for playing football and has the opportunity to inspire every girl to love participating in matches by utilising strong role models and giving girls the chance to play and watch more football, which in turn supports them to gain confidence and skills through this sport.

The initiative started in Vienna and Salzburg; in autumn 2017 it expanded to Vorarlberg with The SOL Foundation’s support and with the implementation partner FC Lustenau 1907.

Problem to be tackled

The main target is to assist girls and young women with migration backgrounds and/or economic and social disadvantages to integrate into their (new) communities. Additionally, local youth is part of the integration process by contributing time and experience to each practice.

Local partner

FC Lustenau 1907 implements the defined programme in Vorarlberg. It is the oldest football club in Vorarlberg and founding member of the Vorarlberg Football Association.

Beneficiaries

The project targets children and youth who mainly come from migration background in Vorarlberg; a specific coach the coaches module targets to integrate local youth in the project and to give them responsibility in leading youth groups with different backgrounds.

SOL’s contribution

Between the years 2020 and 2023, The SOL Foundation assists kick mit and its Vorarlberg implementation partner, FC Lustenau 1907, in connecting children and youth from migration background with their new communities. Additionally, local youth is going to be approached to be part of the integration process by contributing time and as a quid pro quo gaining a coaching qualification.

Project partner

kick mit Austria, based in Vienna, is an association for the promotion of sports activities for young people with difficult starting conditions.
