In brief

Fruits of Hope & Development Initiative is using the power of sport to empower youth in the community, to promote body exercises, good nutrition and health education and to reduce the poverty level amongst youths in the community.

Problem to be tackled

A lack of the youth’s socio-economic development.

Local partner

Fruits of Hope & Development Initiative’s project promotes the youth’s socio-economic development through the power of sports and makes them self reliant and useful members of the society; it includes the organisation of sports activities for the youths, specific support for the youth who have received skills training on small business management initiate own small income projects and the support of environmental conservation initiatives in the community that are undertaken by the youth.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries are children, adolescents and adults aged between 12 and 35 years, 50% male and 50% female including children with special needs. The majority of the participants share an underprivileged and low socio-economic background.

SOL’s contribution

With the support from The SOL Foundation, Fruits of Hope & Development Initiative will be able to implement an upgraded programme, which focuses on the improvement of the physical fitness of the youth combined with an economical empowerment and environmental element.

Project partner

Fruits of Hope & Development Initiative is a Kenyan based and registered Non-Governmental Organisation with the mission to help disadvantaged youth through sports – to gain relevant economic and health information through training and support to better respond to life challenges.
