In brief

Mission for Community Development (MCODE) and The SOL Foundation have defined a pilot programme in Buikwe, Uganda to change and educate boys and girls using the power of sport about the normality of females going through their menstrual cycle.

Problem to be tackled

Adolescent school going girls in the rural areas where MCODE works encounter a number of challenges in managing their menstrual periods ranging from lack of proper management knowledge, accessing management supplies to the pain they experience during menstruation as well as stigma by boys and men, this also being associated to myths and norms attached to menstruation.
